Billiard Tables come in different styles and sizes.
Common Styles
Furniture style: Has individual rails with Leather netted pockets (usually 3 piece slate)
Unirail: Has one piece rail system with inset leather or plastic pockets (usually a 3 piece slate)
Bar style: One piece slate with a ball return system and coin mechanism
Non-slate pool table: In-expensive tables that may look nice but usually have a warped playing field
The most common style is a 3 piece slate table with leather netted pockets. Common sizes are 7, 8, oversize 8 or 9′, the way to measure a table is on the inside of the bumpers (the playing area)
Sizes
7 ft table playing area = 39″ x 78″
8 ft table playing area = 44″ x 88″
Oversize 8 playing area = 46″ x 92″
9 ft table playing area = 50″ x 100″
